Thus, we did a meta-analysis evaluating the effect of echinacea on the incidence and duration of the common cold. 14 unique studies were included in the meta-analysis. Incidence of the common cold was reported as an odds ratio (OR) with 95% CI, and duration of the common cold was reported as the weighted mean difference (WMD) with 95% CI. Weighted averages and mean differences were calculated by a random-effects model (DerSimonian-Laird methodology). Heterogeneity was assessed by the Q statistic and review of L'Abbé plots, and publication bias was assessed through the Egger weighted regression statistic and visual inspection of funnel plots. Echinacea decreased the odds of developing the common cold by 58% (OR 0.42; 95% CI 0.25-0.71; Q statistic p<0.001) and the duration of a cold by 1.4 days (WMD -1.44, -2.24 to -0.64; p=0.01). Similarly, significant reductions were maintained in subgroup analyses limited to Echinaguard/Echinacin use, concomitant supplement use, method of cold exposure, Jadad scores less than 3, or use of a fixed-effects model. Published evidence supports echinacea's benefit in decreasing the incidence and duration of the common cold.
http://herbalscienceresearch.com/node/706

Evaluation of Echinacea for Treatment of the Common Cold
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/409565_5

Researchers discover that skeleton is actually an endocrine organ. Daniel Cressey
The traditional view of the skeleton as an inert frame is challenged by a new study showing that it also plays an important part in the body's hormonal system. Sodium bicarbonate is further indicated in the treatment of certain drug intoxications, including barbiturates (where dissociation of the barbiturateprotein complex is desired), in poisoning by salicylates or methyl alcohol and in hemolytic reactions requiring alkalinization of the urine to diminish nephrotoxicity of blood pigments. Sodium bicarbonate also is indicated in severe diarrhea which is often accompanied by a significant loss of bicarbonate.

Treatment of metabolic acidosis should, if possible, be superimposed on measures designed to control the basic cause of the acidosis - e.g. insulin in uncomplicated diabetes, blood volume restoration in shock. But since an appreciable time interval may elapse before all of the ancillary effects are brought about, bicarbonate therapy is indicated to minimize risks inherent to the acidosis itself.

Vigorous bicarbonate therapy is required in any form of metabolic acidosis where a rapid increase in plasma total CO2 content is crucial † e.g. cardiac arrest, circulatory insufficiency due to shock or severe dehydration , and in severe primary lactic acidosis or severe diabetic acidosis.
http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/sodbic_ids.htm

VIDEO: How Mercury causes Neurodegeneration (brain degeneration)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VImCpWzXJ_w

VIDEO: Cervical Spine & Disc Anatomy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDvbAvBLQuM&mode=related&search=

Cesarean Childbirth From Hartford Hospital - 1 hour not for the faint of heart
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pky9DHxH0uo&mode=related&search=

Bechamp's Cellular Theory
Antoine Bechamp, a very intelligent French medical doctor made completely other conclusions. The difference is that his conclusions were based on verifiable studies. To summarize, Bechamp states that germs do not cause disease, they are the result of disease. This must sound quite awkward when you read it the first time. Bechamp states that the "germs" are pleomorphic. ..

The answer is in our diet. To get an idea of what a life blood analysis of a cancer patient shows, check the second picture on: Blood under microscope (browse down 50% of the article).
Paradoxically, the blood gets alkalic when you eat too many acid-forming foods. When you eat refined grains, sugars and cooked meats your blood turns acidic. The body tries to get rid of the acidity by excreting it (H+ ions) in the urine. Because the Western Diet contains so many acid-forming foods, the body can't excrete all acidity and it stores it in the body tissue, so that it can be excreted later when the capacity is there. In return, the tissue gives back an alkalic element to the blood, hence the blood turns more alkalic. ...

The most acid-forming foods are:
Alcohol, Coffee, Tea, all Soft drinks, pasturized milk
All grains, flours, cornstarch, pasta
All sugars
Cooked eggs, cooked meats and cooked fish
Beans, brussels sprouts, chickpeas, legumes, lentils
What do all these foods have in common: They are all refined or processed (cooked) foods or can't be eaten raw!
http://www.newtreatments.org/newcancer

US MEDICAL SYSTEM RANKED: Seven years ago, the World Health Organization made the first major effort to rank the health systems of 191 nations. The FDA's newest game, the "Evidence-Based Review System for the Scientific Evaluation of Health Claims", Docket 2007D-0125, http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/hclmgui5.html, is designed to raise the bar so high on information about what supplements can do, their health benefits, that, as the guidance says, small and medium sized supplement companies will be driven out of business. That is the intent. The big companies remain, for a while. The small, innovative, personally owned companies are burdened and blanked out of business.

This strategy violates US legislation AND US Supreme Court decisions (case law). In the public comment we are urging you to send to the FDA (hyper link to http://www.democracyinaction.org/dia/organizationsORG/healthfreedomusa/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=12189) those violations are spelled out. Briefly, the 1994 Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act, DSHEA, says that supplements are foods and foods are generally regarded as safe. Dangerous supplements can be removed from the market. All others are to be left alone.

The Supreme Court said that the FDA MAY NOT control information to keep people from doing what they want to and what the FDA does not want them to - in this case, know about supplements and buy them.

You may recall that in my lecture "Nutricide" I defined Nutricide as:
1. The death of a body of knowledge about the health benefits of food and
2. The death of large numbers of people through manipulation of the food supply.

This Guidance is Definition No. 1, pure and simple. Codex and the hundreds of thousands of iatrogenic (doctor-caused) deaths through permitting known killer-drugs on the market is Definition No. 2, also pure and simple.
http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/index.php

Schedule Homeopathic Interview by contacting www.homeopage.com

Looking for a violin teacher in Raleigh - Cary area?
Teaching all levels, all ages. During 18 years of follow-up, men who became increasingly neurotic had a much higher risk of dying than those who stayed the same or became less neurotic. The good news, says Robert S. The project is under construction and want you to know that you will be able to donate to this cause in the near future. The best part is that the money goes directly into purchasing filters and getting them into the hands of the people without any middlemen.

To learn more about the filters view the site below.

The LifeStraw is an instant water purification filter designed by the Danish Vestergaard Frandsen Group.[1]. The device is able to clean bacteria, such as typhoid, salmonella, Escherichia coli, and cholera, from water for people living in third world countries[2].

Construction: The LifeStraw is a plastic tube 25 centimeters long and 29 millimeters in diameter[3], and costs around $2.00[4]. Water that is sucked through the straw first passes through a mesh of 100-micrometer spaces, then through a mesh of 15-micrometer spaces. Water then passes through a chamber with iodine-coated beads, killing remaining bacteria. The water passes through an empty chamber, then finally passes through active carbon, removing the iodide taste and medium-sized bacteria.[5] The entire process is powered by regular sucking, similar to using a conventional drinking straw, and filters up to 700 liters of water.[6] The filter currently does not work against Giardia lamblia, but the company is working on that. WASHINGTON (AP)

U.S. researchers say antioxidants may reduce the toxic side effects of chemotherapy. The report, which is to be presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting in Chicago next week, said antioxidants may improve survival rates and tumor response by helping patients complete prescribed treatment cycles, The Block Center for Integrative Cancer Treatment said Friday in a release. In 18 of 30 studies evaluated, patients who received oral or intravenous antioxidant supplements experienced significantly lower toxicity. The report said glutathione, melatonin and vitamin E showed the most consistent and promising effects. Vitamin A was the only antioxidant that showed significantly greater toxicity. Dr. Keith I. Block, co-founder and medical/scientific director of the Block Center for Integrative Cancer Treatment, was the lead author. Robert Newman, Professor of Cancer Medicine at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, co-wrote the report.

Acupuncture for reducing discomforts of cancer treatment and anesthesia.

Study: Vitamin D may cut the risk of several types of cancer by 60 percent overall for older women.
